The first stage in removing the engine parts would be to remove the engine top cover and the auxiliary drivebelt. Loosen the screwing nut and bolts to take out the right-angled bracket on top of the auxiliary drivebelt tensioner, and remove the tensioner by removing the extra bolt on the top. Undress the coolant expansion tank and leave it aside but leave the hoses attached. Then take out the timing belt upper outer cover and rotate the crankshaft till the 1 st piston is at TDC. A hoist should be attached to the lifting brackets of the cylinder head on the engine and raised up slightly so as to support the weight of the engine. Unscrew the bolts, disassemble the right hand engine mounting assembly and crankshaft pulley, and leave No 1 piston at TDC. Unscrew the right-hand engine mounting bracket, which might need the engine to be brought a few inches higher to reach. Unscrew the timing belt centre, lower outer covers and write the direction that the timing belt is running, in case it is to be re-fitted. Unscrew the timing belt tensioner securing nut to open the timing tensioner and remove the belt off the sprockets. Rotate the crankshaft anti-clockwise a quarter-turn to align Nos 1 and 4 pistons at the bottom of their bores to avoid the possibility of piston-to-valve contact. To refit, ensure that the timing mark of the camshaft sprocket is in line with the timing mark of the rear timing belt cover and then rotate the crankshaft 1/4 turn clockwise to reset Nos 1 and 4 pistons to TDC making sure that the crankshaft timing marks are matched. Install the timing belt by wrapping it over crankshaft sprocket, coolant pump sprocket, tensioner and camshaft sprocket and note the running direction marking. Tense the timing belt by hooking up a couple of angled circlip pliers to the tensioner pulley, ensuring that the tensioner pulley is angled back and forth 5 times and lastly, position the tension indicator pointer at the centre of the indicator notch. Then clamp the tensioner pulley and screw the tensioner nut to the torque required. Rotate the crankshaft two full steps clockwise until the No 1 piston reaches TDC once more and align timing marks with pointer and ensure that the tension indicator pointer is at the centre of the notch. Otherwise repeat the tensioning process. When the timing belt is aligned, refit the timing belt lower and centre cover, crankshaft pulley and the right-hand engine mounting bracket screwing all securing bolts to the required torque. Install the right-hand engine mounting assembly again making sure it is properly aligned to tighten the bolts. Unplug the hoist, re-attach the timing belt upper outer cover, before finishing off by attaching the auxiliary drivebelt tensioner, the auxiliary drivebelt and lastly the engine top cover.
