To remove the hood release cable, first, locate the coupling at the rear of the right-hand side headlight and unhook the pivoting cover to release it, then detach the inner cable end. Next, remove the lock at the hood to release the cable by depressing the end fitting and pulling it out. For the rear section, release the coupling and unclip the driver's side sill trim panel from the footwell. Remove the lower facia panel above the pedal assembly by undoing the retaining screws, then take out the hood release lever after removing two securing screws. Unclip the outer cable from the lever bracket and detach the inner cable, followed by releasing the cable sealing grommet from the bulkhead. Carefully work along the cable's length, freeing it from retaining clips and ties, and disconnect the outer cable from under the crossmember on the lock housing. Tie a length of string to the end of the cable inside the vehicle and withdraw the cable into the engine compartment. Once free, untie the string and leave it in position for future use. For refitting, tie the inner end of the string to the new cable and use it to draw the hood release cable back into place, ensuring the rubber grommet in the bulkhead is fitted correctly and the cable is properly routed and secured. Finally, check the operation of the release lever and cable before closing the hood.
