How to replace the Hood Release Cable on Audi A6?

To replace the hood lock cable, first remove the storage compartment on the driver's side and take out three screws. Detach the cable at the support and disengage the end of the cable at the lower section of the hood lock. Remove the securing clip and pull the cable through the guide channel in the seal into the interior of the vehicle. Installation is the reverse of removal. The hood lock release and self-tapping screw should be tightened to 1.5 Nm (13 in-lb), and the securing clip is also involved in the process. The lower section of the hood lock can be adjusted to modify the hood height.
