To access the inlet manifold upper part to remove, loosen the clip first by disconnection the breather hose at the back of the camshaft cover. Removal of upper timing belt cover will provide a better access. Then loosen the bolts which hold the camshaft cover to the cylinder head, following the outside inwards, and noticing the position of any support brackets. Test the special bolts as to any leakage and change them where needed. Removing the camshaft cover Lift off the camshaft cover of the cylinder head and replace the gasket, and remove, where applicable, the oil deflector of the camshaft cover or the crown of the cylinder head. To refit, make sure to check the camshaft cover gasket and change it where necessary. Wipe the mating surfaces of the camshaft cover and camshaft retaining frame and carefully fit the cover. All the bolts should be tightened gradually, inward and then outward, until they reach the required level of tightness. Install the upper timing cover, which may have been taken off reconnect the breather hose and lastly reconnect the upper section of the inlet manifold.

Take off masking plate from left cylinder head cover. While working the left side of the engine loosen the hose clamp, remove the intake line, detach the hose, remove the coolant line and plug the lower intake line. Detach crankcase breather from cylinder head cover on left cylinder head cover. Disconnect electrical connectors from ignition coils and remove ignition coils. If you're working on this 2.8-liter engine, remove the spark plug wires, and then remove the cylinder head cover. The installation of cylinder head cover gaskets and spark plug well gaskets is the reverse of removal. The ends of the joints between the bearing caps and the cylinder head must be sealed with small quantities of sealant at the four end points. The fasteners of the cylinder head cover are tightened in a crisscross manner, beginning with the fasteners in the middle.
