To replace the exhaust camshaft, first remove the camshaft sprocket and recover the key. Drill two small holes into the existing oil seal, diagonally opposite each other, and thread two self-tapping screws into the holes; use pliers to pull on the screw heads to extract the oil seal, taking care not to drill into the seal housing or camshaft sealing surface. Clean the seal housing and sealing surface with a lint-free cloth, removing any debris that could cause leaks. Wrap adhesive tape around the end of the camshaft to protect the seal lip from sharp edges. The new oil seal must be fitted dry; push it over the camshaft end, ensuring the lip is not damaged, using a suitable tubular spacer and a hammer to gently push the seal into place, making sure it is flush with the housing. Finally, refit the camshaft sprocket. For the inlet camshaft, remove the upper section of the timing belt cover, then pierce the center of the rubber cap with a screwdriver or pry bar to remove it. Ensure the bore of the cylinder head/bearing ladder is clean, then drive the new cap into place until it is flush with the casing, ensuring it is fitted dry without any oil, grease, or sealant. Refit the timing belt cover afterward.
