How to replace the air filter element on Audi A3?

With the 1.6 litre DOHC and 2.0 litre turbo, the air filter is positioned in the engine top cover. First, take off engine oil dipstrip, then press each corner of engine top cover upwards in a sharp manner, this will also loosen the air cleaner housing of throttle valve module. Then, part the wiring of the inlet air temperature sensor and crankshaft ventilation hose of the air cleaner housing or camshaft housing, and pull the assembly off the engine. In case of necessity, invert the assembly on the bench, unscrew rubber grommet, unscrew the screw and remove the air temperature sensor. Unscrew the screws and loosen the air cleaner housing and the top cover next and take the air filter out and replace it with the new air filter by following the reversal steps. In the 1.6 litre SOHC case and the 2.0 litre non-turbo case, the air cleaner is found in front of the battery and on the left-hand side of the engine compartment. Begin by loosening the engine top cover, and then loosen the screws to remove the lid on the air cleaner. It is followed by unscrewing the screw and pulling out the clamp to take out the air filter of the housing and finally, installing the new air filter by reversing the steps.

Unscrew the retaining clips and the upper cover of the air filter body and take out the air filter of the main body and record the orientation.
