The filter element air for 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder versions is located in the driver's-side housing in the engine compartment. All versions of this car are similar. To get started, switch off the engine and depress the tabs on the lock ring of the secondary air injection hose to remove the hose. Afterward, loosen the clamp on the turbocharger inlet hose and remove the mass air flow sensor with it. Next, disengage the harness connector for the mass air flow sensor after that. Unscrew the screws on the upper part of the filter housing, which are captive screws and should not be taken out completely. To Remove the Paper Air Filter Element: Lift the upper section of the air filter housing around the area of the screws, and pivot it away from the lower section. In both portions of the filter housing, clean. Also, mount the latest air filter element in the lower portion. Then put back the upper portion. Furthermore, both parts must be properly mounted and seated. After the screws in the upper section have been tightened, the order of the assembly follows the reverse order of disassembly. By taking out the air filter element and the screws fixing the lower air filter housing to the body, the lower air filter housing may be lifted away from the fresh air intake connection and locating pin. This allows for access to other components near the air cleaner. Putting it back is the opposite of removal.
