To take off the hood, open it and draw an outline of where each hinge is with a pencil or a felt tip pen so that it can be used as a guide when replacing the hood. The next step is to get help to assist in lifting the hood, loosen the locking clip and unconnect the gas support strut to the ball joint making sure to unconnect the strut retaining clip. Then unscrew the securing nuts, and lift the hood off, taking great care, and storing. Check the hinges by looking at wear and free play at the pivots, replacing them where needed. The hinge is fixed by the use of two bolts, so note where they are, unscrew the bolts, and take the hinges out of the car. To refit, with help, put on the hood and superficially screw in the retaining bolts, by matching the hinges with the marks made before, and finally fastening the nuts with a screw. Install the gas strut again but in reverse sequence and close the hood after which align it with the other panels. In case of misalignment, it is possible to unscrew the hinge nuts to adjust the hinge followed by tightening of hinge nuts so that the hood fixes and frees well.
