Support the hood in its open position and place some cardboard or rags beneath the corners by the hinges. Push the windscreen washer jets rearwards and pull them from the hood, disconnecting the washer tubes and the washer heater wiring. Disconnect the wiring for the engine compartment light. Pull the wiring and tubes from the hood channel and position them to one side, ensuring to tie a piece of string or wire to the wiring before removing it, leaving the string in the channel. If a gas-filled strut is fitted, disconnect it by pulling out the spring clip and pin while supporting the hood. Pull the plastic clips from the hinges and mark the outline of the hinges on the hood with a pencil or piece of chalk. With the help of an assistant, unscrew the bolts and lift the hood from the car. Refitting is a reversal of removal, adjusting the hood so that it is level with the front wings by loosening the hood-to-hinge bolts for forward and rearward adjustment, while height adjustment is made at the hinge pivot bolt and by adjusting the front rubber buffers and striker pins.
