In order to check the vehicle, it is necessary to jack up the front side and place it on the axle stands, then take off the engine top cover which contains the air filter, and then the engine undertray(s). Examine the mounting rubbers on whether they have any cracks, hardening or no longer attached to the metal and replace them in case they are damaged. Test the wear of the mounting by pushing hard on it with a large screwdriver or crowbar, or have an assistant pivot the engine/transmission and watch the mounting to see whether it has too much free movement. In case of excessive wear occurrence, it is important to make sure that the fasteners are in place before replacing the worn parts. To renew right hand mounting, place a hoist to the engine lifting brackets and lift it to the extent that it carries the weight or place it on a trolley jack with a block of wood to support the sump. To access this, it is better to unbolt and slide the coolant reservoir aside and to push any wiring harnesses or hoses aside. Undo the bolts that hold the mounting to the engine and the body and undo the movement limiter then withdraw the mounting. Refitting is the opposite of the removal process, that is, new securing bolts are used and all fixings are tightened to the required torque. To have the left-hand mount, the same steps must be followed by taking the engine top cover off, lifting off the engine, and supporting it as follows, then taking off the battery and its tray, then unscrewing the bolts that hold the mounting to the transmission and body and lifting it out. Once more, refitting is the opposite of dismantling and it is important to make sure that new mounting bolts are installed and all fixing tightened to the required torque. To install the rear mounting (torque arm), loosen the rear of the car using the handbrake, then raise the front of the car using the jack and hold it on anything before taking off the engine undertray(s). Grab the back of the transmission underneath final drive housing, unscrew and extract the bolt which attaches the mounting to the subframe then unscrew and remove the two bolts attaching the mounting to the transmission and withdraw the mounting. Refitting is opposite to taking off, whereby new mounting securing bolts are used and all the fixings are tightened to the required torque.
