The
Camshaft is removed by simply removing the camshaft and ensuring that all parts are kept in serious order so that they can be re-fitted into their original positions because interchanging the tappets and rocker fingers may be an act that hastens wear and prematurely ends their work. Record the position of the fit, and then unclip the rocker fingers on the hydraulic tappets and remove them out of the cylinder head. Move the tappets carefully out of the bores in the cylinder head and place them upright in an oil bath in their correct sequence taking care to note where each tappet went in placing the tappets back. Inspect contact surfaces of cylinder head bore and hydraulic tappets, make sure that the oil holes of the tappets are clear; a severe damage could necessitate the replacement of cylinder head and tappets. Check the wear or damage on the valve, the tappet, and the camshaft contact faces of the rockers, renewing all worn or broken ones, and check the camshaft. To refit repeat the procedure with clean engine oil on the side of the hydraulic tappets and fit them once more in their correct bores, pushing them down until they snap into position and lubricate the upper surface. Apply oil to contact faces of the rockers contacts on the tappets and the valve stem tops before replacing the rockers to its original position making sure that it is firmly clipped into the tappets. Lastly, lubricate the contact surfaces of the lobes of the camshaft and refit the camshaft.
