Removal of the exterior mirror To dismount the exterior mirror, begin by removing the door inner trim panel and then disconnect the wiring of exterior mirror at the window regulator motor/control unit. Then turn the retaining screws counterclockwise and unfasten the speaker on the door panel, and access the inside of the speaker aperture to loosen the wiring loom in the window frame and clips holding it in place. Unscrew the small trim panel until you get access to mirror retaining screw, then use a supporting exterior mirror to unscrew. Take out the mirror in the door, and then push the wiring around the hole, and take out the gasket (fitted). In the case of the mirror glass which is held in place with a clip, insert the top until the bottom is last in contact with the housing, cover the edge of the housing with masking tape and use a special tool to pressure the glass off its mounting clips, being careful not to break it. Take out the wiring connectors of the mirror heating element. The second step involves taking away the mirror glass, unscrewing the two holding screws and unclipping the trim panel on the bottom of the mirror case, then proceeding to pull the housing upwards in order to release the securing clips. In the case of the mirror motor, take off the mirror glass, loosen the three holding screws and pop off the motor off the mirror mounting bracket, which will dislodge the wiring connector in the process. The process of refitting requires reversal of the steps of removing it making sure to press centrally where refitting the mirror glass without putting too much pressure lest it breaks.
