Loosen the left front wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and place it securely on jackstands before removing the left front wheel. Next, take off the left wheel well splash shield. If applicable, remove the small splash shield fastened to the differential housing by taking out its fasteners. Disconnect the electrical connector from the speed sensor, then remove the speed sensor retaining fastener and the speed sensor itself. Discard the speed sensor O-ring and ensure that installation follows the reverse order of removal, using a new sensor O-ring. For automatic transmissions, speed sensors are integral components of the valve body/Transmission Control Module (TCM) assembly located inside the transmission, and replacing one of these sensors is typically beyond the scope of the home mechanic.
