To eliminate the distributor of the AAA, ABK, and AAD engines, place it on the left-hand rear, and driven at the top of the oil pump shaft. Enable the engine to TDC on cylinder No 1, disconnect the ignition coil HT lead and find and disconnect spark plug HT leads. Disconnect the Hall sensor cable with the distributor body and then unscrew or unclip to pull off the distributor cap, and make sure that the rotor arm electrode fits into the cylinder No 1 marking. Identify the connection between the distributor body and the cylinder block, dismantle the bolt, take off the clamp, and pull off the distributor with O-ring being reclaimed. In the case of ACE and AAR engines, the location of the distributor is upon the right-hand side of the rear and is driven off the back of the camshaft, and a similar procedure should be followed in need of aligning the engine to TDC, disconnecting HT leads, disconnecting the Hall sensor cable, and disconnecting the distributor cap. Indicate the connection between the distributor body and the cylinder head, unscrew the mountings and pull out the distributor and reclaim the O-ring seal. Check the O-ring seal and the distributor drive gear, wear or damaged parts should be replaced. To refit, make sure that the engine is at TDC on cylinder No 1, position the oil pump shaft drive dog correctly in AAE, ABK or AAD engines, install a new O-ring, install the distributor, and install the clamp and bolt loosely and aligning marks made when removed. String the distributor clamp bolt, re-assemble distributor cap, re-assemble Hall sensor cable and re-assemble the spark plug HT leads and main HT lead leads to the ignition coil. In the case of ACE and AAR engines, you are to replace the O-ring seal and clean the cylinder head surface, find the distributor, attach the shaft dog, match marks, and screw mount. Re-fit the distributor cap and reconnect the HT leads and Hall sensor cable and have the ignition timing checked and adjusted accordingly.
