How to access and replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor on Audi A4?

In four-cylinder models, CKP sensor is very inaccessible as it is situated at the back of oil filter housing. Firstly start off by emptying the engine oil and then the oil filter housing. The electrical connector should then be unhooked to the CKP sensor, then the mounting fastener then the CKP sensor. The installation is an inverted process of removal. In the case of V6 models, lift the front of the car and place it on jackstands. The CKP sensor is found on the bellhousing of the transmission, just above the ring gear. Unscrew the electrical lead on the sensor connector, and screw out the mounting fastener and sensor. Once more, the installation is the opposite of uninstalling.
