- Q: How to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor on Audi A4?A:In four-cylinder models, the first step is to unattach the cable on the negative battery terminal and then find the CMP sensor and strip off the upper timing belt cover. The second step involves disconnecting the electrical connector of the CMP sensor, and removing mounting screws and the CMP sensor, and installation is the opposite of disassembly. On V6 engines, V6 engines that use the 3.0L liter engine displacement, have four CMP sensors, two on the intake camshaft (each) and two on the exhaust camshaft (each) on the rear side of the cylinder head. The first step is to disconnect the cable with the negative battery terminal and then the engine cover is removed. In case of replacing CMP sensor on the left cylinder head, remove the coolant reservoir without unscrewing the hoses. Unattach the electrical connector of the CMP sensor, remove the mounting connectors, and unscrew the sensor, and installation is the converse of unloading.
