All cars are fitted with tires of the metric size steel belted radial and the use of different sizes or types might alter the ride and handling. Combining the use of tires of various types including radials and bias belted tires on the same automobile can have severe effects on handling. It is advisable to change the tires in pairs on the same axle and in the event that there is a single tire change it must be of the same size, structure and tread design as the other one. Tire pressure also has a great effect on handling and wear, therefore, it must be examined at least once every month or prior to long journeys. Bent or dented, leaking air, having long bolt holes, severely rusted, not in vertical line, or the bolt in the wheel will not tighten, should be replaced, and not welded or peened. Balanced tires and wheels are important to the overall performance, braking and handling of a vehicle since the imbalance of the wheels may cause detrimental effects on the handling, ride quality and tire wear. The balancing should be done when a shop has the right equipment whenever installing a tire on a wheel.
