One bolt is used to stabilize the slave cylinder in the clutch housing and the slave cylinder can be accessed either by entering the engine compartment, but it is usually recommendable to lift the front part of the car using axle stands. You can start by loosening the hydraulic pipe union on the slave cylinder after which you unscrew the mounting bolt and remove the slave cylinder which is attached to hydro pipe. Then unscrew the cylinder out of the pipe union and insert the end of the pipe. Even though repair kits are not supplied by Audi, they can be available through a motor factor. In case of overhauling, the slave cylinder, the exterior surfaces should be cleaned, then the rubber boot should be prised and the pushrod removed. Take out the special spring clip out of the cylinder mouth and remove the spring and piston. Wipe down all parts and examine them, wear and corrosion area; they are then replaced. In case of their being in good condition, take off the seal on the piston and fit another one. Soak the new seal in hydraulic oil and install it into the piston with the lip of the seal touching the spring end. Take the spring, put it into the cylinder, and put a piston into hydraulic fluid and insert it. Have a screwdriver on the piston and insert a new spring clip into the mouth of the cylinder by pressing the legs of the clip into the cylinder. Install the pushrod and the rubber boot again and when reassembbling do not forget to bleed the system. Oil it lightly at the tip of the pushrod that touches the release lever with molybdenum disulphide grease and oily the outer part of any plastic support ring it may have with the same grease.
