To replace the front oil seal, first remove the
Timing Belt and crankshaft sprocket. If an extractor tool is available, the seal can be renewed without removing the housing; otherwise, unbolt and remove the housing along with the relevant sump bolts, and take out the gasket. If the sump gasket is damaged during this process, the sump will need to be removed and a new gasket fitted, after which the sump should be reattached following the housing installation. Next, drive the old seal out of the housing, dip the new seal in engine oil, and drive it into the housing using a block of wood or a socket until it is flush, ensuring the closed end of the seal faces outwards. After that, fit the housing with a new gasket and tighten the bolts evenly in a diagonal sequence before refitting the timing belt and crankshaft sprocket. For the rear oil seal, remove the
Flywheel/driveplate and then follow the same steps for the front oil seal from the second to the fourth point before refitting the flywheel/driveplate.
