Observe the precautions before working on fuel system components. The fuel filter is mounted in the fuel supply line, on the right-hand side of the engine compartment, behind the air cleaner. Begin by depressurising the fuel system. Note the arrow on the top of the fuel filter indicating the direction of fuel flow; the new filter must be fitted with the arrow pointing in the same direction, although the design of the fuel unions ensures that the filter can only be fitted one way round. Place cloth rags beneath the fuel filter to catch any spilt fuel. Unscrew and remove the union bolt from the front of the filter, release the banjo union with the pipe, and recover the sealing washers. Next, unscrew the union nut and disconnect the fuel pipe from the rear of the filter. Unscrew the clamp and mounting bolts to remove the filter. Finally, fit the new fuel filter using a reversal of the removal procedure, ensuring to fit new sealing washers on either side of the banjo union before tightening the union bolt to the specified torque.
