Stump the front road wheels then lift the back part of the car and place it on axle jacks. Take off the associated rear roadwheel. It is worth noting that in early models with two
Ball Joints, a metal shield is installed between the connection and the
Sway Bar link whereas later models with a rubber bush connection do not have a shield; the connection of the link to the
Trailing Arm is a balljoint in such cases. Unscrew the nuts that fix the connection between the link and the sway bar link and the trailing arm, and take it out under the car, retrieving the metal cover on the first generation one. Check the ball joints and the link rubbers to ensure that there is no damage or deterioration and in case there is, replace the entire link. Refitting is just the opposite of removal, that is, making sure that the nuts are tightened to the required torque.
