In order to access the parking brake cable, one must first remove the center console to access the parking brake lever, and the parking brake cable has both right and left sections attached with an equalizer plate that can be removed independently. Chock the front wheels, lift up the rear of the car and place it on axle stands. Loosen the parking brake cable adjuster nut to a degree that will allow the cable ends to be disconnected to the equalizer plate. Routing of the cable: This requires great care and the cable should be stripped out of guides and retaining clips. Disconnect the inner cable to the caliper parking brake lever, pull off the outer cable retaining clip and then pull the cable out of the caliper then pull out the cable under the vehicle. To refit, reverse the removal procedure, making sure that the parking brake cable sheath is properly located in the guide on the rear trailing arm with the clamping ring centrally located in the clip, and the parking brake set in place then refit the center console.
