Chock the front roadwheels, then jack up the rear of the vehicle and support it on axle stands before removing the relevant rear roadwheel. Fit the tool to the coil spring and compress it until it can be removed from the
Trailing Arm and underbody. With the coil spring on the bench, carefully release the tension of the tool and remove it. After removing the coil spring, recover the upper and lower spring seats and check them for damage, obtaining new ones if necessary, noting that they are different with the lower one having a location pin that enters a hole in the lower transverse link. Clean the spring locations on the underbody and trailing arm thoroughly. For refitting, reverse the removal process, ensuring that the lower spring seat engages the hole in the lower transverse link, the lower end of the coil spring abuts the stop on the seat, and the upper seat is correctly engaged with the lug on the underbody.
