In the case of the central Rack and Pinion Boot type, the steering gear should first be removed, then the tie-rod bracket. Unclip the Rack and Pinion Boot, slipping it off, and coating the rack with grease of steering gear, then attach the new Rack and Pinion Boot and clips; in case necessary, clips of the worm drive type may be used instead of the crimped. Lastly, re-fit the tie-rod bracket and the steering gear. In the end Rack and Pinion Boot type, loosen the tie-rod bracket at the end of the steering rack with an unbolster, and loosen the Rack and Pinion Boot with a priseer of the retaining ring, and take the ring out. Once the clip is released, wipe the steering gear grease on the rack and slide the Rack and Pinion Boot off. Install the new Rack and Pinion Boot, clip and ring, making sure that a worm drive clip can substitute the crimped type should the need arise, and that the screw is turned towards the bulkhead. Install the tie-rod bracket again and attach the bolts to desired torque.
