New anti-roll bar-to-lower arm nuts and mounting clamp bolt nuts will be required on refitting. The anti-roll bar must be removed or refitted with the vehicle resting on its wheels, making the operation easier if the vehicle is positioned over an inspection pit or driven onto ramps for increased clearance. Begin by removing the fasteners and retaining clips to take off the undercover beneath the engine/transmission for access to the anti-roll bar mounting clamps. If necessary, undo the retaining bolts and position the wiring harness tube clear of the bar. Next, slacken and remove the nuts and bolts securing both the anti-roll bar mounting clamps to the subframe, discarding the nuts as new ones should be used on refitting. Unscrew the nuts securing the anti-roll bar ends to the lower arms, discarding them as well, and remove the washer and rear bush from each end of the bar, noting their correct fitted positions. Withdraw the anti-roll bar from underneath the vehicle, recovering the front bushes and washers from each end, and remove the mounting bushes from the anti-roll bar while noting their correct fitted locations. Carefully examine the anti-roll bar components for signs of wear, damage, or deterioration, renewing worn components as necessary. For refitting, lubricate the mounting bushes with talcum powder and locate them on the anti-roll bar lugs, then fit the front washers and bushes to each end of the anti-roll bar, ensuring the convex surfaces of the washers face the bushes. Manoeuvre the anti-roll bar into position and engage its ends with the lower arms, then slide the rear bushes onto the ends of the anti-roll bar and fit the washers with their convex surfaces facing the bushes. Screw on the new retaining nuts, tightening them lightly at this stage, and refit the mounting clamps to the anti-roll bar mounting bushes, ensuring both clamps are correctly located before fitting the retaining bolts and new nuts, again tightening lightly. Rock the vehicle to settle the anti-roll bar in position, then tighten both anti-roll bar lower arm nuts to the specified stage 1 torque setting and angie-tighten each one through the specified stage 2 angle, also tightening the anti-roll bar mounting clamp bolt nuts to the specified torque. Finally, refit the undercover and lower the vehicle to the ground if necessary.
