How to properly remove and refit the valve cover for 4-cylinder diesel engines on 1993 Audi 100?

Take off the top cover of the engine, the breather hose, regulator valve and the nuts holding the camshaft cover, in that order. Take off the cover, examine the gasket and wipe the pairing surfaces. Reassemble the cover with the correct placement of the gasket, and screw up the retaining nuts.
