1992 Audi 100 Engine Mount Parts and Q&A
Q: How to inspect and replace the Engine Mount components for 4-cylinder diesel engines on 1992 Audi 100?
A: In order to inspect the vehicle, lift the front and place it on axle stands and then remove the undershield. Examine the mounting rubbers to see whether they are craked, hardened or no more attached to the metal; renew damaged or worn mounts. Make certain that all the fasteners are firmly tightened, with a torque wrench where possible. A large screwdriver or crowbar pushed against the mounting to examine it, and determine whether it has wear. When play happens to be in excess, ensure that the fasteners are tight and change worn parts. To replace the front torque arm, use the handbrake, jack up the front and put the front on axle stands. Unbolt the bracket to the front valance, remove the bolts to remove the torque arm and rubber mounting on the cylinder block and unbolt the bracket to the front valance. Installation is done by undoing the operations of removing the torque arm and bracket. In the right- or left-hand mounting of the engine, repeat the steps as in the front and hold the front with the handbrake, raise and place on axle stands. Put in place a hoist and lift the weight of the engine, undo the upper mounting nut, lift the engine and loosen the mounting off the bracket. Lastly, install the new mounting, inverting the unmounting process.
