The air bag crash sensors (lateral acceleration sensors) are mounted underneath each of the front seats. The sensors are identical and with the arrow on the sensor facing out when installed. Start by noting all the warnings and dangling the negative battery cable. Detach the front seatbacks, then remove the lower A-pillar trim. Unclip the sill panel trim on the inside, and lift the carpeting around it. Using a pair of cutters or a good pair of scissors or wire cutters, cut the cable tie and unplug the harness connector from the sensor. Then, remove the mounting bolts and take out the sensor. When majorly using the installation again, the cable tie must be replaced and the sensor mounting bolts tightened to specification. Once installed, switch on the ignition and close the doors, then connect the battery ground strap. When the airbag failure indicator warning light instructs malfunctioning after installation, first clear the OTC memory and recheck using a diagnostic scan tool.
