Depending on engine version removing the front suspension strut tower cross brace may give improved access. To remove the refrigerant lines, unclip the expansion valve insulation and remove the screw securing the line. Foil at least two open ends of refrigerant lines and expansion valve ports to restrict the entry of moisture and dirt. Detach the securing screw and slide the expansion valve off the connection on the evaporator then remove the threaded plate. To install the component, reverse the order of removal. Be sure to replace the O-rings. Tighten the securing bolt to the expansion valve to 8 Nm.
