Audi TT Mirror Switch

The Audi TT Mirror Switch allows the user to adjust the side-view mirrors via a switch located in the door panel. Inside the Audi TT cabin, the Mirror Switch sits right at fingertip height for quick selection. The device contains directional controls that supply power to small integrated motors on each mirror. After the driver chooses which side to control, the glass moves up, down, left, or right. Inside the unit, a simple selector designates the left or right mirror. Then a single four-way pad tilts the chosen mirror so that line of sight can be fine-tuned from inside the cabin. This compact control unit replaces older bowden-cable systems with a new system containing an electric circuit that reacts to the button input immediately. This layout is now standard in various vehicles and compatible with Audi electrical architectures. By placing the switch on the door, it locates operation at the driver's fingertips, reducing distraction to the task of driving and allowing adjustment of the passenger mirror from the seat. Certain vehicles combine the same control cluster with a folding command that draws the mirrors to the body to help avoid damage in tight situations or car washes. Audi's electrical format allows such a function to share wiring when fitted. Due to the adjustment traveling through motors rather than by manual effort, the positioning of the mirror remains accurate and repeatable for different drivers. This Mirror Switch is more of a convenience feature every day than a performance upgrade. It provides the ergonomics of the Audi cockpit. To sum up, the Mirror Switch is a simple electric control that optimizes the everyday use of the Audi TT exterior mirrors.
