How to remove and reinstall the steering column, Ignition Lock Cylinder, and other ignition components on Audi A6?

Remove the driver airbag, steering wheel, and upper and lower trim of the steering column, then take out the steering column stalk switches. For vehicles with automatic transmission, disengage the interlock cable by moving the transmission selector lever to P, switching the ignition key to ON (position B), lifting the ignition interlock lever slightly, and pulling the cable out of the steering lock housing. Using a spare key or valet key, insert it into the ignition lock and switch the ignition ON, then disconnect the immobilizer induction coil harness. Insert a steel wire approximately 1.5 mm in diameter into the bore next to the ignition key and pull the ignition cylinder out of the steering lock housing. When installing, insert the spare key or valet key into the ignition cylinder and turn it to ON, push the steel wire into the bore next to the ignition key, and push the lock cylinder with the ignition key all the way into the steering lock housing. Pull the wire out and push in the lock cylinder until the catch engages audibly, then reinstall the steering column switches, steering wheel, and airbag.
