The instrument cluster cannot be serviced and should be changed as an entire unit which can only be programmed using a factory scan tool meaning that in case of a need, one should have an Audi dealer perform the task. Start by removing the negative cable off the battery. The second step is to take out the steering column upper trim cover and steering column screws holding the cluster to the instrument panel. Next remove the end cap of the dashboard and use the opening in the back of the dashboard to poke the cluster forward. To remove the electrical connector(s) at the back, press the lock lever upwards to break the electrical connector of the instrument cluster, and then support the cluster by the top and push it off. Installation is done in the opposite sequence of removal.
