Audi A4 ABS Sensor

The Audi A4 ABS Sensor is a capable wheel speed detector. It helps the brake control unit disable wheel lockup for a stable stop. Located adjacent to a toothed ring mounted on a wheel hub, axle shaft, or differential ring gear, the ABS Sensor reads the rotation of each wheel. The sensor generates an alternating current voltage which the control module uses to compare wheel speeds. In the event that one wheel experiences a more rapid deceleration in comparison to the other wheels when braking occurs, pressure is reduced by the module on the hydraulic brake of the corresponding wheel. By doing this, the module ensures that the wheel continues to rotate instead of skidding. The variation provides an electric signal that carries speed information. They both work on the same principle of monitoring the position of a moving ring without contact. There are two internal designs usually applied for this purpose. One uses a magnet and a Hall effect element. The other uses a toothed wheel and electromagnetic coil.
