Take out the
Timing Belt and intermediate shaft sprocket. Make two small holes on the existing oil seal, at right angles to each other. Insert two self-tapping screws into the holes, and with two pairs of pliers, drag on the heads of the screws to remove the oil seal being careful to leave the oil seal flange undrilled. Another way is to unbolt the flange and remove the inner O-ring in the inner groove and press the seal out. Wipe the seal flange and the sealing surface of the
Camshaft needed with a lint-free cloth and wipe out any chips or burr that can be a source of leakage. Grease the lip and the too edge of the new oil seal with clean engine oil, and begin it in its housing by hand, the closed end of the seal facing outwards. A seal driver or a hammer and a socket of appropriate size should be used to force the seal directly into its housing making sure the socket only skates on the outer hard part of the seal without touching the inner lip. In case the flange is removed, change the O-ring, and afterwards fit the flange and screw the bolts to the required torque. Lastly, re-fit the intermediate shaft sprocket and timing belt.
