The inlet manifold design also differs greatly based on the type of engine with some engines, like the 2.0 litre turbo engines having a single piece inlet manifold with the fuel rail being bolted to the bottom and bonded to the injectors on the cylinder head. Otherwise, the 1.6 litre DOHC and SOHC engines, and the 2.0 litre non-turbo engines, use a two-piece inlet manifold, where the upper section must be detached to perform a variety of servicing work. To take out a one-piece manifold, disconnect the battery negative lead, unscrew throttle housing/module, disconnect vacuum hoses and loosen the bolts gradually to remove the manifold, remembering to remove the gasket or seals to be recast and refitted.
