Before removing a brake line or hose, unscrew the brake fluid reservoir filler cap and tighten it down onto a piece of polythene sheeting placed over the reservoir filler hole to reduce fluid loss. Alternatively, fit a brake hose clamp on the rear brake hose if a rear brake line is being removed. To remove a rigid line, unscrew the union nuts at each end, prise open the clips (where fitted), and withdraw the line, with refitting being a reversal of removal. For a flexible brake hose, unscrew the union nut securing the rigid brake line to the end of the flexible hose while holding the end of the flexible hose stationary. Remove the clip and withdraw the hose from the bracket, then unscrew the remaining end from the component or rigid pipe according to position, with refitting being a reversal of removal. Bleed the hydraulic system after fitting a rigid brake line or flexible brake hose.
