Audi 4000 Ignition Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and reassemble the ignition switch components on the steering column on Audi 4000?
    A:
Remove the steering column combination switch, then prise the lockwasher from the inner column and take out the spring followed by the contact ring. Using an Allen key, unscrew the clamp bolt from the steering lock housing and slide the housing off the outer column, disconnecting the multi-plug. To take out the ignition switch, unscrew the cross-head screw inside the housing. For the lock cylinder removal, drill a 3 mm (0.118 in) diameter hole in the housing at the specified location to depress the retaining pin and remove the lock cylinder. Reassembly is the reverse of disassembly.
