Before removing a brake line or hose, unscrew the brake fluid reservoir filler cap and secure it with polythene sheeting over the reservoir filler hole to minimize fluid loss. Alternatively, a brake hose clamp can be fitted on the rear brake hose if a rear wheel cylinder brake line is being removed. To remove a rigid brake line, unscrew the union nuts at each end, open the clips, and withdraw the line. Refitting is done in reverse order. For a flexible brake hose, unscrew the union nut that secures the rigid brake line to the flexible hose while keeping the flexible hose stationary. Remove the clip and take out the hose from the bracket, then unscrew the other end from the component or rigid pipe as needed. Refitting follows the reverse process. After installing a rigid brake line or flexible brake hose, bleed the hydraulic system.
