In models that have rear drum braking, the rear hub assembly is incorporated as part of the brake drum, and has peculiarities of removal and assembly. In models mounted with a rear disc brake, the removal of rear brake disc is the initial step to be followed. Tap and prise the cap out of the hub center with a namer and large flat bladed screwdriver, and dispose of cap, should it be distorted in the process. Unscrew the split pin of the hub nut, and also unscrew the locking cap, and the split pin must be discarded and another one put in when it is refitted. The rear hub nut should be loosened, and then the toothed washer, followed by the outer bearing, in the center of the hub should be slid. the hub assembly is now removable by hand by inserting the stub axle, a tight one is tapped with a hide or plastic mallet at the periphery of the hub or a universal puller is fastened to the hub using the wheel bolts. To refit: grease the hub oil seal and smear it and then fit the assembly onto the stub axle with care. Install the outer bearing and toothed thrust washer and make sure that the tooth is appropriately seated in the stub axle slot. The hub nut is then refitted, and tightened until it barely touches the washer as the hub is turned so as to seat the bearings. Slack off the hub nut gradually until you can forcefully move the toothed washer sideways with just a little force. Once in place correctly redress the locking cap and use a new split pin to secure the nut. Lastly, screw the cap in the hub center without letting it fall off as it will bring the brake disc back into place.
