Audi 100 Antenna Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and reinstall the antenna on Audi 100?
    A:
To access the aerial through the trim panel on the luggage compartment side of the saloon models that have an external aerial, it is first necessary to remove the retaining clips and screws in order to reach to the aerial. In the case of aerials which are electrically-operated, loosen the nuts and bolts holding the aerial and earth leads, disconnect the wiring connector, aerial lead, and drain hose and loosen the assembly out of the sealing grommet. With manual aerials, looseness, unscrew the mounting nut, bolt, unclip the lower mounting rubber and pull it out of the vehicle. A re-installation is a reversal of the steps of removal, it is important to make sure that the sealing grommet is correctly set to achieve a waterproof seal. In those models where the aerial is attached to the rear window heating element, the procedure starts with the removal of the rear seat cushion and back, and the unattaching of the seat belt lower mounting bolts and release of the belts. Unwallow the clips and trim covers of the seat belt guide, and move the parcel shelf towards the front of the car to unlock the clips and remove the parcel shelf. The amplifier is reachable by unclipping the left hand rear trim rear pillar, then removing the amplifier by detaching the wiring connectors. The reinstallation involves making sure that all the trim panels and the seat belt guides are well fixed. In the case of the models with estates, it is important to take off the luggage compartment light unit and aerial lead at the base of the aerial before unscrewing the retaining nut so that the aerial can be lifted off the roof and in the process the rubber seal is intact during re-fitting. In the case of A6 models unscrew the aerial mast and release the sealing cap by rotating and then remove the amplifier unit by detaching the aerial lead and wiring connector, then remove the fixing nut and seal. The seal and sealing cap should be properly installed in order to make sure the package is waterproofed.
