1991 Audi 100 Oil Pan Parts and Q&A
Q: How to remove and refit the oil pan for 4-cylinder diesel engines on 1991 Audi 100?
A: In order to drain the engine oil pan, initially put the handbrake on, and raise the front part of the vehicle and then place it on axle stands. Unbolt and remove the undershield of below the engine. Place a container under the oil pan, unscrew the drain plug and empty the engine oil then fit and tighten the plug back. Take off the dipstick and lift the weight of the engine using a hoist. Unscrew the lower nuts of the engine attachment, support the front suspension crossmember on a trolley jack, unscrew the front mounting bolts and lower the crossmember a little way. Loosen and loosen the transmission front cover/bracket, loosen and remove the oil pan bolts. Take out the oil pan and the gasket tapping it with a mallet in case it is not coming off. To refit, clean the contact face of the oil pan and block, fit a new gasket on the oil pan, and attach it to the block without any jointing compound and to tighten the bolts in a diagonal pattern to the required torque. Install the transmission front cover/bracket and screw the bolts, elevate the front suspension crossmember and screw the mounting bolts. Place the engine on the crossmember, take out the hoist, and re-fit the engine lower nuts and screw them to the required torque. Reject the engine dipstick, reconnect the undershield, get the car down on the ground and pour in the right amount of oil.
