  A: Fuel pump is on the left hand side of the engine and is driven by either an eccentric on the intermediate shaft in 4 cylinder engines, or the camshaft in 5 cylinder engines. Start by unplugging the negative battery cable and by making sure that the car is in a well-lighted place, which does not expose it to any ignition sources. Disconnect the fuel lines of the pump, which can be unclamped and then the two securing bolts are removed to lift the pump, flange, and gasket. The pump cannot be repaired and all that we can do is to clean the filter, to clean the filter, first remove the screw that is at the center of the pump, then remove the cover, sealing ring, and the filter. Wipe the pump top using a lint-free cloth and clean the filter with fuel and then reassemble the filter, a new sealing ring and cover with making sure that notch on the rim connects with the matching notch on the pump body.
