How to safely remove and install the front shock absorber and drive axle on Audi TT Quattro?

Raise the car and support it safely, then remove the front wheel(s). Mark the positions of the ball joint lower mounting nuts and remove them. Loosen the upper nut from the ball joint, leaving it on the end of the threaded shaft for now. Remove the coupling rod from the suspension strut on both sides of the vehicle. Pull the spring clip out from the bracket and detach the brake hose, then detach the wire for the speed sensor from the suspension strut. Remove the lower sound insulation panel from under the engine, then remove the mounting bolts and protective cover above the axle boot if applicable. Unbolt the drive axle from the transmission flange, noting that only two mounting bolts are shown; rotate the wheel to access the remaining bolts. If the drive axle does not have the shown mounting bolts, consult the relevant section for drive axles with splines on the inner joint. Secure the drive axle to the vehicle with wire, then remove the bolt and nut securing the wheel bearing housing to the lower suspension strut, noting the installation position of the nut/bolt. Insert the spreader tool into the slot of the wheel bearing housing where the lower strut is mounted, then insert a ratchet into the spreader tool and rotate to pry the slot open. Press the brake disc in the direction of the suspension strut by hand to prevent the lower shock absorber tube from canting in the wheel bearing housing opening, then pull the wheel bearing housing downward from the strut tube and tie it to the subframe with wire. Remove the hex nut for the upper strut mount using special tools, then remove the strut assembly. When installing the strut, coat the upper strut bearing with assembly lubricant, install the suspension strut upper mounting bolt first, and remove the wire used to hang the wheel bearing housing. Using an engine/transmission jack or threaded support stand, carefully raise the wheel bearing housing until the lower strut mounting bolt can be installed, then remove the spreader tool. Do not press against the ball joint with the engine/transmission jack. Press the brake disc in the direction of the suspension strut by hand to help the lower shock absorber tube slide into the wheel bearing housing opening, then tighten the lower strut mounting bolt, coupling rod, and drive axles to specification.
