How to safely raise the car and remove the lower engine cover and viscous fan to access the Harmonic Balancer in 2.7 liter or 2.8 liter V6 engine on Audi A6?

Ramp up the automobile and secure it. Detach the lower engine cover and viscous fan along with the accessory belt. If you intend to reuse the belt, mark the direction of rotation before removing it. Take off the pulley mounting bolts without loosening or removing the center bolt and pull the pulley from the timing belt sprocket. While installing the pulley, the notches in the pulley should be aligned with locating lugs on the timing belt sprocket. Reinstall the belt in the previously marked direction of rotation and install the viscous fan. Run the engine for a short period to check if the belt is correctly routed, after which, put the engine cover back on.
