A fuel line is fitted with a disposable fuel filter that is mounted close to a
Fuel Pump on carburettor types engines and close to a
Fuel Tank supply line to a fuel pump on some fuel injection engines. Besides that, fuel injection engines have a canister type filter on the supply line to the metering unit, which is on the bulkhead. To replace the filter, unhook the fuel lines and, where necessary, take the nut out of the mounting clip, which can be done by jacking the rear part of the car in order to access the filter around the fuel tank on a fuel injection engine. Fitting new filter To fit the new filter in, the arrow should face the direction of the flow of fuel to an engine and install new clips and washers as needed without allowing any dirt or foreign matter to enter the fuel lines.
