Audi 4000 Sway Bar Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and refit the sway bar on Audi 4000?
    A:
Raise the front of the car and place it on axle stands and use handbrake. Un-screw nuts and remove the front mounting clamps which hold the sway bar in place on the subframe. Then loosen the nuts with unscrewing and remove the side mounting clamps which connect sway bar to the suspension wishbones and remove the sway bar underneath the car. To refit, simply reverse the procedure but make sure that the sway bar is installed in the correct direction where the offset is facing against the wishbones. The first thing to do is to apply only partially tightening the mounting bolts, then take the car down to the ground and bounce it a few times to shamp the mountings then tighten the bolts to the required torque with full weight of the car on the wheels.
