Audi 100 Ignition Coil Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove the ignition coil on Audi 100?
    A:
In order to change the ignition coil in the ADR engine, one should make sure that the ignition is off before removing the engine top cover. The next step is to depress the connector plug to remove the multiplug connection with the ignition coil, unscrew the nut to remove the earth cable connection, and loosen the screw mounting bolts with a tone key and then remove the connector. Unplug the HT leads of spark plugs Nos 1 and 2, take care to lift the coil assembly during the removal of the HT leads of Nos 3 and 4, and pull the coil assembly out of the engine. Removal is an inverse of refitting. In the case of the AAE, ACE, AAD, and ABK engines, it is recommended to make sure that the ignition is off, the HT lead on the ignition coils is disconnected, and the protective cover is removed. Unscrew the connectors of the LT cable at the multiway connector, unscrew the screw of the earth wire on ABK models, and remove the ignition coil by descrewing the mounting screws. Removal is an inverse of refitting. With the AAR engine, turn off the ignition, unscrew the nuts on the terminal of the coil and disconnect the low tension wire, and remove the protective cover, then disconnect the low tension wires on the coil terminal, and loosen the clamp bolt to remove the ignition coil. Removal is an inverse of refitting.
