- Q: How to remove and refit the Drive Belt on the engine top cover on 2016 Audi A3?A: Removing the engine top cover will first require removal of the ignition coils and the two bolts that hold the drive belt upper cover to the camshaft cover. The second thing is to unscrew the bolts connecting the camshaft cover with the cylinder head slowly by slowly, as the next thing is to loosen the engine breather hose(s) attached to the camshaft cover. Unbolt the camshaft cover to the cylinder head and refit the gasket, then in the case of turbo models, unbolt the valve body to the camshaft cover and refit the gasket too. Clean surfaces of the camshaft cover and cylinder head and fitted, fit the valve body to the camshaft cover with new gasket and screw the bolts firmly in place in turbo models. Test the state of the camshaft cover gasket and replace it, in case of need. Slide the gasket to the camshaft cover and fit the gasket to the bolts, this requires that the gasket be placed on the cylinder head, securing the bolts in place, gradually and consistently applying the correct torque. Rear-connect the breather hoses to the camshaft cover, apply some thread-locking compound, and replace the drive belt cover bolts and tighten them to the correct torque. Lastly screw back on the ignition coils and next, the engine top cover.
