How to remove the oil pump from the sump without taking off the timing cover on 2012 Audi A3?

Removing the sump doesn't require timing cover unless renewing the timing chain. Remove oil pump cover, hold sprocket, loosen its bolt, press tensioner, remove pump and sprocket. Cover is needed for chain/tensioner removal. Clean, inspect, renew worn parts and pulley bolt, refit, torque fasteners, and reattach cover and sump.
