On four-cylinder models, take off the engine cover and think about taking off the air filter housing. Turn off the oxygen sensors, perhaps removing the coolant expansion tank. Take away the catalytic converter and the old gaskets. The opposite is the installation, with new gaskets. In V6 models, open covers, disconnect sensors and so on.
